I got started playing drums by the Rock Band video game. I remember when I got it the first night and immediatly started playing the drums. I was so exicited. After about an hour of playing I had blisters all over my hands but I was so exicited. I kept playing and practicing the game and soon got better and better. I was playing on Expert difficulty and impressing everyone. I soon realized that maybe I was good at this drum thing and wanted to try it for real. I saved up some money and in late Febuary went to my local music store and bought the cheapest drum set I could afford. It was Percussion Plus 5 piece set that included a high hat and smalll ride cymbal. It took me a few hours to set up and I hid it in my garage and told my mom that my friend loaned it to me. I started hitting around on it but never gave it much effort.

My mom soon found out that I had lied and that I had bought it so I moved it into my basement. It sat in the corner all summer and when school was getitng ready to start I decided to sign up for drum lessons. I bought some books and decided to start really taking them seriously.

So there is my drum story. I have been going to lessons for a month and have been practicing anywhere from 2-8 hours a week. I have recently, under the urging of a friend, to start practicing more frequently and to really give my all to the drums.  I realized shortly that my drum set is not the best but it is doing its job for now. At my current savings rate I hope to have enough for a new kit by next summer. i will take some pictures and post them next time I post.

So today I spent about 45 minutes practicing some simple beats my instructor gave me. I also practiced playing to a tempo on the bus on the way from school.
